925 Experiment von und mit Verena Rotky
Die Perfomance 925 untersucht die Rahmenbedingungen künstlerischer Arbeit und stellt sie anhand der ureigenen Arbeitsprozesse der konkret agierenden Künstlerpersönlichkeit dar. Der Titel 925 steht dabei als Chiffre für die heutige Arbeitswelt mit Ihren starren Zeit- und Bedingungskonzepten (Working nine to five). Künstlerisches Schaffen ist ähnlichen Regeln unterworfen wie allgemeine Arbeitsprozesse. Druck, Selbstausbeutung, Effizienz, Perfomance (im Sinne von Leistung), Vereinbarkeit (mit besonderen Lebenssituationen), Verdienst etc. Was unterscheidet künstlerische Arbeit von bspw. Büroarbeit oder Bergbau ? Wo steht der Künstler, was Wertschätzung, allgemeine Akzeptanz oder gesellschaftlichen Nutzen angeht ? Kurz: Wie und wie sehr profitiert die Gesellschaft von künstlerischer Arbeit ? In 925 sollen die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede verschiedener Arbeitsmodelle gesucht und künstlerisch interpretiert werden. In einem Raum mit zwei Schaufenstern wird die Künstlerin eine Woche lang ein Werk schaffen und gegebenenfalls wird sie zur Fertigstellung auch Überstunden machen müssen. Motor und indirekter Auftraggeber wird die Öffentlichkeit sein. Rotky begibt sich in die Abhängigkeit des Publikums, das ihr die notwendigen Materialien bzw. Hilfsmittel sowie Nahrung freiwillig zur Verfügung stellen muss. Eine direkte Kommunikation wird es kaum geben – nur Bittstellen; mittels Schildern wird die Künstlerin ihre Bedürfnisse artikulieren. Die Performance untersucht gegenwärtige Arbeitsprozesse, die zwischen Eigenantrieb und Abhängigkeit oszillieren.
